Katie Garland - Owner and dog groomer

Hello everyone! I’m Katie and I am the dog groomer and general dogs body behind Surrey Pretty Paws. Everything about the business I run is a reflection of me and all of the things I value.
I started my career with dogs working for myself as a dog sitter. I trained as a dog groomer to expand my business and it has now become my main business focus. In the last five years I have become so passionate about being the best dog groomer I can be; making dogs feel and look fantastic makes me so happy.
I trained at Chichester College for my City and Guilds certifications and have worked alongside both salon and mobile groomers.
In my spare time I am involved with a number of dog sports and activities with my two German Spitz, including showing and agility, although they are much loved pets as a priority. We competed at Crufts in 2016 and regularly help our breed club promote health and responsible dog ownership at Discover Dogs in London. I am very passionate about animal welfare and the environment, this is reflected in my work by only using natural products that are safe to drain away and cleaning the van using only natural and cruelty free products.
The dogs and I also love to go camping in all weathers and walk on the beach, although when I can bear to be apart from my beloved dogs I also love to ski. I grew up in the local area and have lived here all my life.

The Van
A state of the art mobile dog grooming salon converted by Wet Pets
My van contains a state of the art hydro bath, that circulates warm water with a variety of natural shampoos to gently but thoroughly clean your dogs coat right to the skin, then rinses with fresh clean warm water. They are then blow dried and styled to your requirements. All the mess is contained inside the van. All I need is to plug into a socket for power. Grooming from the van can help dogs to feel more relaxed about the grooming process as they can see and smell home the whole time. When the weather is suitable and the location is safe, I can open the back and side doors of the van to allow the dog to be groomed in daylight and fresh air, however in colder months I am also able to work in the dark and poor weather conditions as the van is warm and well lit.
