Theres something about arriving at Crufts that makes me feel a bit giddy. This year was my third time going but the first since I’ve been involved in dog shows and went with a dog (not my own!). Sadly although I qualified Lola to enter I had a fault with the grooming van the week I needed to pay my entry fee so fixing that was more important. But we always have next year!
It makes me so excited seeing all the beautiful dogs, from the smallest to the largest walking and being wheeled in, trollies piled high with grooming tools and products and supplies for the long day ahead.
Jackie and I with Murphy (my friends black German spitz Klein boy) were benched in a good spot by the ring close to lots of our friends and so we could watch the judging.
Judging started for them at 10.30 and Murphy was in an early class, he did well and although they only got reserve (4th) he showed really well which was the main priority. Towards the end of last year they were having some behaviour issues but they have been training hard over winter so it was nice to see that paying off.
We enjoyed the rest of the judging, the fabulous Jen won best of breed and went to to win the utility group which is huge for the breed! She is an amazing dog. And our friends Jan and Adi’s puppy blue boy who best puppy.
After showimg we went off to do our shopping. I picked up a few dog grooming bits, some new wildwas shampoos for the van and a new pair of scissors.
We finally got back to Leatherhead at about 8.30, so a very long day! I was so tired and had to unpack and re-back to go to Spain with Chris and his family in the morning.
